Diana

It is twenty years since she has gone

and we remember the night that the car ploughed into the wall

Not believing, not conceiving that a lovely woman

Like her

Has gone

and then we remember the tears and the heartache

The boys that she raised to be good sons to serve the community

Then we wonder about what happened inside those walls

We know the public humiliation

But what of the private side?

Because it is a story that many women hold inside because society doesn’t allow the awful side of a marriage to be revealed

Especially when you belong to the people.
